Jesse Lingard reveals the origin of the famous celebration of “JL”


Jesse Lingard English football fans are well remembered for many reasons.

For Manchester United Supporters, was his impressive extension winner in 2016 Fa cup End against Crystal Palace. For West Ham United Fans, was his remarkable six -month loan spell at the London Stadium, where he scored nine goals in 16 games, possibly the best period of his career.

After scoring, Lingard would keep his hands in front of him, shaping a “J” and a “L” – his initials – a celebration as unique and iconic.

In a recent interview with Gq koreaLingard, who now plays the K League for FC Seoul, revealed the origin of the famous celebration.

“When I was at Manchester United, we played West Brom. He tried to practice this celebration,” he recalled. “First, I was doing different things. I turned J&L. so if I went today, I would make this celebration.”

“So I scored and I did it,” he added. “Not many people knew what was happening. In the end, I explained what it means. This is my posterior ego, j-lingz. This is my business, boy.”

The celebration was not the only thing Lingard spoke about during his interview, he also talked about his new aspect.

The first England International has adopted almost Korean -style hair cut, which surprised many fans and caused some online jokes.

“Every time I have a hair cut, I like to brush. I have to look fresh,” said Lingard. “Most of our games are on television, so I like to look cool. Probably once a week, I have a hair cut. Very popular in England, this hair cut.”

Different country, new style, but the same J-Lingz spirit continues.
