Jermall Charlo announced on social media today that he will be on the undercard of Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas will return. PBC still hasn’t confirmed that Jermall is fighting on the Tank-Roach card. So until they do, you should take what Jermall says with a grain of salt.
It’s unknown who Jermall will fight, but it probably won’t be anyone who stands out in super middleweight.
The 34-year-old Charlo (33-0, 22 KOs) will be on a 13-month layoff since his last fight against Jose Benavidez Jr. on November 25, 2023. For that fight, Charlo came off a long 29. -months layoff.
Jermall looked good for a fighter who had been out of action for 2 1/2 years and Benavidez Jr. defeated by a ten-round unanimous decision, but nowhere near the level he was at his best. It was thought that Charlo would remain active after his return, but he disappeared again.

Charlo fights in the red-hot super middleweight division, and if he can force himself to stay active, he might get lucky and get picked by unified 168-lb champion Canelo Alvarez. He is desperate for opponents, and he already fought Charlo’s twin, Jermell, two years ago. If Jermall could get two or three wins over quality opponents in 2025, he could be lucky.
Much of the buzz Jermall once had from fans about his career has evaporated due to his long periods of inactivity during the past three years. He will probably never return to the warrior he once was because too much time has passed and he has aged.
Charlo is unlikely to get fans interested in his career again unless he beats some of these contenders:

– Jaime Munguia
– Edgar Berlanga
– Osleys Iglesias
– Diego Pacheco
Berlanga and Plant will jump at the chance to fight Jermall if he shows interest as they need his scalp to get a rematch against Canelo. Both of them were blessed by the Mexican star and got huge paydays, and they weren’t going to get a second chance without beating someone notable like Charlo.
