Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has made a sweeping statement on Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah. He hoped that Shah would think of the ICC and not the BCCI once he took over the leadership of the International Cricket Council.
ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has become the main topic of cricket for a month. This is because both the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the Pakistan Cricket Board have been involved in the venue and schedule of the tournament.
BCCI and PCB have been in a big fight for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
BCCI has made it clear that they will not send the Indian National Cricket Team to Pakistan. This is because the Indian government does not allow the board to travel to the neighboring country due to security reasons.
On the other hand, the Pakistan Cricket Board has been strong in its stance. They have repeatedly mentioned that they will host the entire ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in their backyard.
The PCB has conveyed the same to the ICC and is totally opposed to scrapping the tournament or even holding it in a Hybrid model..
A lot of statements came from both the sides and it witnessed a big tussle between BCCI and PCB for ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The ICC has also intervened and acted as a mediator, but so far, nothing has been concluded.
ICC will hold a virtual meeting on November 29. According to information, it was learned that the final decision regarding ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be made only after that. Reports claim that the hybrid model will be adopted due to the unrest in Pakistan.
The entire ICC Champions Trophy 2025 may move from Pakistan
Due to the unrest in Pakistan, reports have claimed that the entire ICC Champions Trophy 2025 may be moved out of Pakistan. This is because Sri Lanka A abandoned the tour for the same reason pressure may force the PCB to adopt a hybrid model.
But PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi issued a strong statement on Thursday, saying they still stand by their stand and want the entire tournament to be held in Pakistan. He also stressed that they will take the best decision for Pakistan cricket.
I am sure he will think about the benefit of ICC after he moves from BCCI to ICC – Jay Shah on Mohsin Naqvi
At the same time, Mohsin Naqvi also expressed his belief that Jay Shah will take a decision considering the interest of the ICC after accepting the charge. Speaking to reporters in Lahore, he explained:
“(Jay Shah) is taking over in December and I am sure he will think about the benefit of the ICC after he moves from BCCI to ICC and he should do that. Whoever takes up such a role, he should only do that. take into account the interests of the organization”.
Jay Shah was recently appointed as the Chairman of the ICC. He will take over the leadership of the global body in December, and the decision on the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be his first major challenge in office.
