The Paralympic gold medalist, who recently won the men’s javelin F41 category with a remarkable effort of 47.32m, shared his love for the T20 World Cup-winning skipper during a recent interview.

When asked who he was among MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli preferred, Navdeep surprised many by expressing his admiration for Rohit. Recalling one particular shot that set the fandom ticking, he said: “Rohit Sharma. He plays very well. He had scored two centuries. What an innings that was! I have been his fan ever since.”
Although Navdeep didn’t exactly register the double century he was referring to, Rohit has indeed achieved the feat thrice in his career. He scored a double century Australia in 2013 and two against Sri Lanka in 2014 and 2017.

T20 World Cup hero
Rohit’s latest success as India’s captain T20 World Cup 2024 the team further cemented its status as a cricket icon. Leading India to a historic title, he became the tournament’s second highest run-scorer with 257 runs in eight innings. Notably, Rohit also won the first edition of the T20 World Cup as a player.
It will be busy for Rohit and company
Rohit has a lot of programs ahead of him as he continues to lead the Indian cricket team. With his retirement from T20 Internationals, he will now focus on ODIs and Tests. He recently took a break from cricket and skipped the ongoing competitions Duleep Trophyto rest and prepare for the upcoming season.
The Indian skipper will return to action for the Test series against BangladeshStarting September 19. This series will be followed by three home Tests New Zealand in October. India will then travel to Australia for the decider Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
For next year, Rohit will also aim to lead India to victory Champions Cup in Pakistan. This tournament provides another opportunity to add an ICC trophy to his already impressive collection.
