Indian pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah took the prized wicket of Usman Khawaja during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. Bumrah went on the attack to break the tenacious partnership and he did what his team asked of him.
However, Bumrah did not expect to get the wicket this way. It was short of a length ball that came to Usman Khawaja at about waist height. He wasn’t there to draw the ball, but the batter went for him, as he had done all day.
But Khawaja was too early in his swing and the ball went to KL Rahul at mid-wicket for a simple catch. It was later revealed that the ball came off Khawaja’s leg end of the bat. Jasprit Bumrah couldn’t believe his luck and was surprised to get the wicket off such a ball.
