Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis is trying to drum up fan interest on social media to sell tickets for his rematch against Karen Chukhadzhian on November 9 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
IBF welterweight champion Ennis (32-0, 29 KOs) has a tough job getting fans interested in buying tickets to this fight because it’s not one people are interested in.
Boots already beat Chukhadzhian (24-2, 13 KOs) last year by a one-sided 12-round unanimous decision in Washington, DC. Ennis’ inability to cut off the ring.
Ennis would probably have learned from that fight, but it doesn’t matter. However, that doesn’t change the fact that fans aren’t interested in seeing him fight Chukhadzhian again so soon after seeing him win last year by lopsided scores of 120-108, 120-108 and 120-108.
If ‘Boots’ Ennis’ promoter Eddie Hearn put up the money to get a fight between him and WBO champion Brian Norman Jr. to negotiate, he would not have to fight Chukadzhian on November 8. Hearn failed to negotiate the fight. So, now Ennis is stuck fighting someone who won’t help him achieve his goal of trying to become undisputed champion at 147.
We probably won’t see an improvement in Ennis’ popularity because he’s going to have trouble with the slick style that Chukhadzhian uses, which is a mix of Shakur Stevenson and Pernell Whitaker. Nobody will look good against this guy, especially a slugger like Ennis.
Since Hearn was unwilling to invest the money needed to make the unification fight for Ennis against Brian Norman Jr. to negotiate, he should have held this fight in Las Vegas, where Boots could expand his fan base. Putting the rematch against Karen in Philadelphia, where Ennis is already popular, won’t help him.
“Just get this fight out of the way. Try to stop him this time and jump over him,” said Eddie Hearn Fight Hub TV on what he wants from Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis in his rematch against Karen Chukhadzhian in Philadelphia on November 9th.
If Hearn can’t come up with the money to set up a unification fight for Ennis after his rematch with Chukhadzhian on Nov. 9, he should tell him to move up to 154. It’s a waste of Ennis’ career for him to keep up. 147 fights the likes of Chukhadzhian and David Avanesyan because Hearn can’t negotiate unification fights for him.
Moving up to 154 will expand the options for Ennis against these fighters:
– Vergil Ortiz Jr
– Serhii Bohachuk
– Tim Tszyu
– Israel Madrimov
– Charles Conwell
– Sebastian Fundora
– Errol Spence
– Terence Crawford
