Jane Hedengren is three for three in college.
Jane Hedengren sets two course records in her first two races for College Cross Country powerhouse Brigham Young University.
In her first collegiate cross-country course, Jane Hedengren won the Pre-NCAA Cross-Country at the Gans Creek course in Missouri. Jane ran 18:42 and won by “a considerable margin”. That will be the theme of his first three races. win by a “significant margin”.
In her second collegiate cross country race, Jane Hedengren won the Big Twelve Cross Country Championships, setting a course record of 18:29.6 and leading the BYU women to their third straight cross country team title. Jane’s 18:29.6 is her 6km cross country PB.

In her third collegiate cross country event, Jane Hedengren won the NCAA Mountain Regional in 19:06.6, winning by 42 seconds. Jain led his team to an impressive performance with BYU placing six runners in the top 20.
This past year has been incredible for Jane. It began in December 2024, when Jane Hedengren won the NIKE Cross Nationals in Portland, Oregon, in a pouring rain. In the 2025 indoor and outdoor seasons, Jane Hedengren broke nine American records from the mile to 5,000 meters, including the incredible two-mile race.
Last year, that incredible high school named her the Gatorade Track and Field Athlete of the Year, and then this fall, the Girls’ High School Track & Field Athlete of the Year. By the time Jane Hedengren was recognized for her incredible year, she had transferred to Brigham Young University and was 3-3 in college. On the eve of the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Division I Championships, Jane Hedengren appears to be the first true freshman with a clear shot at winning a collegiate title.
