Jammu & Kashmir’s first international cricketer Parvez Rasool announces retirement


Parvez Rasool retired from all forms of cricket. The Jammu and Kashmir Stalwart informed the Governing Council for Cricket India (BCCI) about its decision on Saturday (October 19).

Jammu and Kashmir will always remember being a trendsetter in Cricket. In 2014, he made history by becoming the first player to represent India in international cricket.

Parvez Rasool made his international debut during the Mirpur Odi

Parvez Rasool made his international debut in Mirpur Odi against Bangladesh in 2014. Three years later in 2017, he represented India in one T20I English. Before becoming an international cricketer, the Spin-Bowling All-Wounter became the first Jammu and Kashmir Cricketer to play in the Indian Premier League. Defunct Pune Warriors made their IPL debut for India in 2013 before also representing Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Officials Bengaluru.

“When we started playing, most of us didn’t take Jammu and Kashmir cricket seriously. But we went on to beat some of the seniors teams Also do well in Ranji trophy and other BCCI affiliated tournaments. I have led the team for quite a long time and it gives me a lot of satisfaction to have contributed a little to the team’s success story,” Rasool told Sportstar.

Parvez Rasool’s Bracket Career:

Although Parvez Rasool could only play two limited-overs games for India, he had a stellar career in the domestic circuit. He won the prestigious Lala Amarnath trophy for the best All-Wounder in the Ranji Trophy in 2013/14 and 2017 and 2017/2017.

He won the trophy for the first time after finishing his season with an impressive 594 runs and 33 wickets. In total, Rasool played 95 first-class matches and took 352 wickets with the help of 23 five-wicket hauls. With the bat, he scored more than 5,500 runs, including 16 centuries and 22 fifties. In limited-overs cricket, he took nearly 300 wickets and scored more than 4,000 runs.

“Representing my team every time was to ensure that we were winners every time. Of course, sometimes the results did not go our way, but I did everything possible to perform to the best of my abilities for J&K,” he said.

“Now I have some free time, I was looking at the numbers and they are not too bad. I have hit a few man of the match matches in the IPL and those performances have also been special…” he said.

With his career running, Rasul now wants to make an impact as a coach. He recently cleared his Level-II coaching certification from BTSI Center of Excellence and is aspiring to become a full time employee.
