Erik ten Hag’s job as Man United manager hangs in the balance heading into the international break and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has admitted he has sympathy for the Dutch manager’s situation at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have made an underwhelming start to the 2024/25 campaign as they currently sit 14th in the Premier League table with just two wins from their opening seven matches.

This follows a poor season last time out as Man United finished eighth in the league as well as finishing bottom of their Champions League group. The FA Cup win may have saved Ten Hag his job at Old Trafford, but that didn’t stop the owners talking to other managers over the summer.

This put the Dutch manager on shaky ground from the start of this season and this was unnecessary pressure, which has led to Jamie Carragher feeling “sympathy” for the 54-year-old, which may come as a surprise to many as the ex-Liverpool star has done. he has often been highly critical of the Man United boss.

“I have sympathy for him, I think he’s been left out to dry after what happened over the summer with ownership talking to other managers,” he said. Sky Sports pundit has said

“I feel for him. No manager or anyone who has a job would want their bosses to be talking publicly to a lot of different people within the game. It’s going to be difficult for him to see the season out.”

Erik ten Hag is ready to learn the faith of Man United

Tuesday is a big day for Ten Hag’s future at Man United as the Manchester club’s board meet in London.

It was reported last week by The Athletic that meeting has been in the diary of Man United’s decision-makers for some time, but Ten Hag’s future will still be a big topic of discussion and according to The Timesthe point that the Red Devils got against Aston Villa has not saved the Dutch manager from the sack.

Only time will tell if the former Ajax manager will return to the seat at Old Trafford after the international break, but it is clear that his time at Man United will not last much longer than that.
