Journalist James Pearce has shared an update on Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate’s contract and it’s good news.
Liverpool are currently at risk of losing three of their biggest stars for free next summer, with the club yet to agree new contracts for Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk .

All three are just 48 days away from being able to talk to other clubs about a pre-contract deal, which puts Liverpool in a very worrying situation.
Real Madrid have shown a strong interest in signing Trent Alexander-Arnold and could make progress in their attempts to agree a deal for him. There are suggestions that they might offer to Tchouameni as part of an exchange agreement.
Mo Salah’s camp are too has been open to exploring offers from other clubswith the Saudi Pro League very interested in signing the Egyptian king.
However, all three players have expressed their desire to continue at Liverpool, putting the ball in the club’s court to reach an agreement with them.
James Pearce shares Ibrahima Konate’s update
Interestingly, while the futures of three of their top players remain up in the air, the club is focusing on securing a contract extension for another star player, Ibrahima Konate.
According to the last of Athletic’s James Pearcetalks are underway between the Reds and Konate over a new deal, which the club sees as the only other priority.
Pearce believes reaching a deal with Konate should not be a problem as the player is very happy at the club.
He wrote:
“The only other priority is Ibrahima Konate, whose deal runs until 2026. Talks are ongoing and I don’t think there is any problem.
“He is happy and settled at Liverpool. He is in the best form of his career at Anfield and at 25, his best years are ahead of him.”
Liverpool start the season on a high
Liverpool have started the campaign under new manager Arne Slot. They currently lead the Premier League table, 5 points ahead of Manchester City. They are also top of the Champions League table in the League stages.
The club will want to avoid the risk of derailing their season with unnecessary distraction off the pitch, and hope to resolve the contracts as soon as possible.
