Jakub Kiwior makes a huge mistake for Arsenal in EFL Cup clash

Arsenal were in action against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night and the Gunners fell behind in the clash thanks to a big mistake from Jakub Kiwior.

It has been an up-and-down campaign for the north London outfit this season and, heading into the EFL Cup clash, Arsenal fans would have seen the competition as a good opportunity to win a trophy, which of late been difficult to achieve given Man City’s dominance of the English game.

Those hopes were put on ice very quickly Crystal Palace took the lead in the contest after just four minutes through Jean-Philippe Mateta.

The striker went through in the Arsenal goal after getting on the end of a long ball from Dean Henderson, which Kiwior failed to deal with. The Arsenal defender made a mess of the situation as he tried to clear his head, completely missing the ball as he was the last man on the breakaway.

It was a bad time for the Polish star, but mistakes like this are to be expected when you don’t play regularly.

Will Jakub Kiwior leave Arsenal in January?

Kiwior has not been a big part of Mikel Arteta’s plans at Arsenal this season, although a recent report claimed the Spaniard is expecting keep the 24-year-old at the Emirates beyond January.

The Polish star has featured 13 times for the north London side in the first half of the current campaign, but has spent most of the term on the bench. This has led to a number of clubs being interested in the defender and it remains to be seen whether he will be on the move in January.

AC Milan is a club looking for a deal for Kiwiorwith Napoli, Bologna, Juventus, Villarreal and Marseille also keen on the Arsenal star.

A move for the defender could be beneficial for his career, but it remains to be seen whether Arteta lets him go, as the 24-year-old’s versatility could come in handy as the campaign progresses.
