Jake Wightman. “I would hate for athletics to just be considered an Olympic sport”

The 1500 m Champion in the 2022 world emphasizes why the Clagchain is so important for the British athletes so important

Jake Wightman has announced that “hatred for hatred is simply to be considered an Olympic sport” and “athletes are also responsible for” the momentum. “

At the beginning of this month, the champion of the 2000-m world of 2022 spoke through frustration to miss the Olympics due to the injury of his YouTube Channel, which has made hundreds of supportive comments.

Many of them focused on the authenticity of the Wightman message, saying that British was “open, honest, self-assessment.”

After a number of consequences of failure over the past few years. The serious injury of the leg has sank its 2023 season before the little tears on his right, which he competes in Paris.

The first main test of the global stage. Wightman wins his season with a victory over 3,000 m on the new 3000 m on Sunday’s new balance sheet, before he tested himself in the Morper Games.

On 30, then, then tries to restore his British record 1000 m record in Birmingham.

Here is our exclusive interview with Wightman below.

Jake Wightman (Athletics)

How is training going and how are you feeling?

Going out before I reached, I raced 3,000 m in Glasgin as a tester and saw where I was. It went better than what I had hoped for. I have tried not to do a lot because I feel like I’m in a good place. Now I’m focused on getting ready to compete when I get back. You never really feel ready to run 1500 m but I’m sure I’ll be ready for Boston.

The main thing for me is that I just wanted to go back to race. Having a short season short, as it was short, it was clearly disappointing, and he realized that if I had the opportunity to go to the championship, I had to get every opportunity. That’s what I hope to do in this inside the season. I hope it is not only the step and the good season with its right.

How much does it mean to go back after so much injuries?

This time, I probably said the same thing last year, because I feel like I have turned a new leaf, and I am ready to go again. ” Now I need to be more informed that I would probably have to take care of my body more than I thought. I feel like I’m done what I needed to do to try and get up to it.

I am now in position if I have problems, it is sure that it is not a big injury. So I’m excited to go for years. I am not 15 minutes away in Manchester than one and a half hours in London. I also don’t want to put too much pressure on myself because it’s my trust to build and compete.

In 2023, the heavy bitt was that the season itself was a test for 2024. I thought everything would bring everything to such an important year. Just a week before the Olympic Games, you need to be injured. In a large scheme of things, and no one deserves to be bad, but I felt that I did so much to stop it.

I felt that I had to serve my time in 2023 so it was a low career point. It was not a case of leaving the sport because I feel that I had yet to prove something, and some good years left in me.

What have you made from the long distance landscape in the last few years when you passed a rocky period?

I think that 1500m has taken collectively (from the moment of winning gold in Oregon). Similarly, in 800 m, it is not only one or two people who continue with the times. Everyone works a second or faster every year. If I wanted to compete for the entire season, I hope I could move on it.

For example, I defeated my world title 3. On the 29th, then to buy an Olympic medal, you have to run 3:27. Everything has arisen, and there are many reasons for that. I am convinced that both 800 m, and 1500 m records will go in the next five years. That is the nature of all sports. It must continue progress and development and the only thing you can do, you think you can have a chance.

Where are you all distances right now and is 1,500 m still at this campaign yet?

1500m is what I’m mostly going to focus. 800m is very tough, and that’s what I struggled to build Paris. I have been 1:44 runners and you are now boys 1:41 and 1:42. If I did the same time in January, my body could not cope with it.

3000M is also a test and not something I think I can override with a consistent basis. Thus, the distance of 1500m will be for me. I would like to have a good 800 m provisions at some point, but it’s quite demanding that speeds. The run more than 1 km will give me a good idea of where I’m above 800 m.

Jake and Jamie Gand (Mark Shearman)

What kind of course did you make in the flagship and potential to achieve this moment?

Many items that probably don’t look great on paper all honesty on paper. However it is effective. So far I haven’t done a huge amount of traces. For the last month and a half, only one session was during the week. I’ve been treated quite a lot of hills.

I have to build my way to the season. I drive more rates, more run and a bigger long run. Then, suddenly, you are expected to be transformed into this path athletic. I have to realize the requirements I have now are not the same as getting ready for the Olympics. I can’t compare me.

I hope Boston is a good idea about where I am and then enters the construction of championships in a closed season. Right here are my strengths.

You are pretty sure you can reset the British 1000 m record.

I hope. I met Charlie Grace, really, and I told him. “It’s crazy about how you run those five years ago.” I think many people could give that record if they tried. I look good if compared my best outdoor best (2:13:88). But inside are other animals.

My main goal is to win first and foremost, as it is expected to be a strong British internal field. If it’s a quick race, that depth, I feel like you have to run a national record for winning it. It’s interesting because we don’t get these opportunities more than 1000 m.

How significant is the classic, especially since Hodkkinson did not give sports.

We are so used to have a closed tour of this great world, so if there is something else, we need an event. I think it’s a more classy doing it. It is only true that it has a really meeting. I mean that the BBC’s sports personality shows that the athletics are going well because of him.

It’s great that we compete in front of many people. I think this is more than the first race since the Olympic Games, so it’s a big deal. I hope it’s different and really has that explosion from Paris because it’s easy to die. You can watch all the athletics in Paris, then do not leave much after that. So you need such events to keep people interested and communicating with athletes.

What kind of help people would help people follow athletic travels just out of the Olympic Games and other major championship?

I would hate athletics to just be considered an Olympic sport that many people would make it as. I think that if it was transformed on the “Olympic Games” label, it’s a sign that sports doesn’t hold.

I think that the closed environment is a great opportunity to play with the format and make sure that sports will develop. It’s a closed arena and people don’t have to worry about to sit on the action long way. It’s quite intense and you can be creative with lights and music. Do you want to make it as packed as possible?

If athletes do good enough work, it is our responsibility to keep the momentum. It is fundamentally working on social media waves. I’m doing my best to my YouTube channel as much as possible.

During the Olympic Games, it is great because every broadcaster in the world is behind sports. They put you in pedestals but then you have to use that platform. These types of meetings give you the opportunity to compete and you need those who have a reason to look at your track. It’s just all sports nature now.

Jake Wightman with Parents Susan and Off Jeff (Athletics)

How easy is it to make a decision to create your YouTube channel and how has feedback been?

In 2022, after the World Cup, I felt responsible for giving people more than those who saw on the path. I would be able to do a good summer and over the years I wasn’t great. Many of it went through Instagram and Twitter, which felt forced and unnoticed.

So I created youtube channel, not only to prepare showcases, but also all the personalities of my life. You don’t want to see the robot race on the track. I also wanted to introduce the bad bits, as it could make a false impression, just emphasizing good parts.

In my last video, I wanted to open how disappointed the summer, which helped me to work out the whole thing. We are a man with emotions and it’s important to show that. It’s part of a journey.

From a 15-minute video you can digest much more about someone and not still a picture or even a small video. I feel we can actually depict. Many people believe that runners are boring individuals who live a worldly life, but we are not. I hope that the next generation of athletes continues that trend, because it will help new fans enter the sport.

James Dargan and Jake Wightman (LM Events)

What are your great goals and ambitions in 2025?

I came to a point where I know that in the last few years of my career. I will do it as long as I feel competitive at an elite level. I think that the most disappointing thing is that I had surgery in that sign, but I could not show it on a more consistent basis, because the injury did it.

Now I’m just focused on building myself, where I have to be and I hope I am magnificent at the September World Championship in Tokyo. I have to go through this race to this race because there is no point to be a wounded athlete that fits too fit.

I also need to think about what I do beyond sports now. I don’t know what capabilities it is, but it will be a shame to act at that level and not try my own thoughts to young athletes and those who can change sports. I’m not going to disappear from it.
