The heavyweight showdown between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson will be an official eight-round bout that will go down in the record books in their battle over 14 days on November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The event will be shown live on Netflix.
The fight will have special rules to accommodate the age of 58-year-old Mike Tyson, who has not fought since 2005 when he surprisingly lost to journeyman Kevin McBride by sixth-round stoppage. Tyson was 38 at the time.
Rules:
– Battle counts in record books
– Knockouts are allowed
– 8 2 minute rounds
– 14-ounce gloves
The Paul-Tyson fight will be eight two-minute rounds with 14-ounce gloves rather than the 10-oz gloves. Fights are usually three minutes long, but for obvious reasons they were shortened to two minutes for this competition.
Tyson hasn’t fought in nearly 20 years and is taking this fight without a tune-up. Of course, his age is quite advanced for him to face a big puncher like the 27-year-old Paul. Knockouts will be allowed for this fight.
Undercard
Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano
Mario Barrios vs. Abel Ramos
Neeraj Goyat Vs. Whindersson Nunes
Shadasia Green vs. Melinda Watpool
Lucas Bahdi vs. Corey Marksman
Bruce Carrington vs. Dana Coolwell
“Yes, he looks very good. I’m a little crazy, and I’m a little scared. This is the toughest fight I have ever had against the most experienced opponent,” Jake Paul told the Today channel, which is discussing his November 15 fight against former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson on Netflix.
“It is heavyweight. Tyson dropped people in sparring. He looks in the best shape and strongest he has ever been. That’s what his coaches say. So, I know on November 15th, it’s going to be a war, but I just plan to box him out and show the world what I’m capable of. To come alive in the moment and knock out one of the best to ever do it.”
