Jake Paul says it’s his destiny to knock out former unified heavyweight champion Mike Tyson this Friday, November 15, on Netflix at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. This is non-PPV.
It’s a big step up in class for Jake to take on 58-year-old Mike Tyson, who still looks powerful and dangerous at his age. Paul has yet to fight a world-class fighter during his four-year professional career. 12-oz gloves will be worn for this fight rather than the usual 10-oz for heavyweight clashes, and it will be an eight-rounder with two-minute rounds.
This fight comes down to whether Mike Tyson still has the explosiveness to connect with quick power shots against rookie Jake Paul, who has never fought anyone close to the kind of talent the former world champion possessed during his career.
Jake Paul takes big risks
He fights a mix of social media influencers, former basketball players and washed-up former MMA fighters. In Jake’s only career defeat, he was beaten by cruiserweight Tommy Fury on February 26, 2023 by an eight-round split decision.
Tommy is a British domestic fighter, mostly known for being the brother of former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. Still, he’s seen as a limited, low-level, second-tier guy. Jake losing to Tommy puts things into perspective a bit, showing where he’s at in regards to his boxing ability.
Paul’s recent fights:
– Mike Perry
– Ryan Bourland
– Second of August
– Nate Diaz
– Tommy Fury: *Real boxer, albeit at UK domestic level
Jake can still punch and has the youth advantage of Tyson, who hasn’t fought in 19 years since June 11, 2005. Tyson looked shot at that point, losing to journeyman Kevin McBride by knockout in the sixth round. It was a sign that Tyson had nothing left, as McBride had never beaten anyone, and his career quickly faded into dust after that.
27-year-old YouTuber Jake Paul (10-1, 7 KOs), who has amassed a fortune estimated at $80 million by Celebrity Net Worth, former King of the Heavyweight Division, Mike Tyson (50-6, 44 KOs) faces off in an eight-round fight that will go down in the record books.
Apparently Jake gets a wallet $40 million for Friday’s fight, while Tyson will get $20 million.
Paul Sure Of Victory
“When it happens, it’s going to be a little bittersweet because I have love for him, but right now we’re meant to go to war,” Jake Paul said. YouTube channel when asked what it would mean to him to defeat Mike Tyson on Friday night.
If Tyson can land some of his power shots, he can knock Jake out, but it’s doubtful he can get to him. In Mike’s workout clips, he has seems painfully slow and nothing like the fighter he was 20+ years ago during his professional career. The years were difficult for Iron Mike. Plus, we don’t know if Tyson can fight hard without gassing after one or two rounds.
In Tyson’s last two losses of his career against McBride and Danny Williams, he faded after two rounds and was knocked out by both fighters.
“He tries to take food off my plate. I’m trying to take food off his plate, and that’s what warriors do,” Jake said of Tyson. “For me, I dreamed it, and it will be the start of what has been a 12-year career for me. This is my moment, my time to shine, and I’m going to show the world who I am.”
Jake is filthy rich with generation-type moneyand his career will still keep humming and bringing in the dough even if Mike Tyson knocks him out. There would be no shame in being beaten by a great like Tyson, especially considering Jake’s lack of experience in this match. He has yet to face anyone of world class.
“Nothing has ever been given to me. I had to work for everything,” Jake said. “Suppressed by everybody, kicked off YouTube, kicked off platforms, and here I am actually running the biggest event in all of entertainment.”
Jake has the victim mentality going for him here, and he sounds like he’s feeling sorry for himself, even though he’s one of the rich fat cats. He had plenty of help to make his cash, and he didn’t have to play the victim card.
“Now it shows the rest of the world what hard work and perseverance can do. I’m just happy to show it to other kids who may have to go through adversity who have to fight, and prove themselves time and time again. Yeah, it’s already written,” Paul said of knocking out Mike Tyson on Friday.
