Spencer Oliver believes Jake Paul is “deluded enough” to think he has a chance to defeat Anthony Joshua on December 19. Like many fans, he believes that Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) has no chance of beating the #3 WBC ranked heavyweight contender, AJ.
Oliver says there are levels to the sport, and Jake hasn’t done enough in his short five-year professional career to be on the same level as former two-time heavyweight champion Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs).
Wealth and comfort influencing AJ’s game
Paul (28) sees what many fans have observed in Joshua (36). He has become bald, inactive and is not the fighter he once was when he turned pro in 2013. Moreover, Joshua is rich with a net worth estimated at $150–$195 million.
Psychologically fragile? Signs Say Yes
The wealth he has accumulated has clearly taken a toll on him too, as he has become increasingly inactive over the past three years.
Additionally, his psychological mindset has been questioned by fans. That of Joshua “dark refuge,” in which he paid £2,000 to lock himself away for four days from October 16 to October 20, 2023, led some to believe he was beginning to crumble at the top. Many fans believe Joshua is just a basket case at this point.
Paul and Joshua will meet in an eight-round fight on December 19 at the Kaseya Center in Miami. The event will be broadcast live on Netflix.
“On Jake Paul’s part, he’s deluded enough to believe that if he comes in, he (has a chance to beat Anthony Joshua),” Spencer Oliver said. talkSport Boxing. “He believes, because otherwise it wouldn’t continue. He truly believes he can win this battle.”
If Jake pushes early, AJ can crack
It’s interesting to note the reaction Joshua fans have to Jake believing he can win. They seem angry about it and don’t accept the possibility of AJ losing to Paul. If they look with open eyes at what happened to Joshua in his last fight and other fights, they will accept the reality that he is not the same fighter he once was. He has grown old.
“He doesn’t realize that there are levels in this game,” Spencer said. “He’s stupid enough to get in the ring with Anthony Joshua. Yes, he lost those fights, but he got up. But we’re talking about world-class punches. We’re talking about levels. If he dwindles to Jake Paul’s level? The answer is categorically no.”
