Uganda clocked 40:42 at the NN Zevenheuvelenloop, or ‘Race of Seven Hills’, in Nijmegen.
Jacob Kiplimo won the NN Zevenheuvelenloop race in Nijmegen in 40:42, the fastest time ever recorded in a 15km solo race, on Sunday (November 17).
Kiplimo improved his course record by 23 seconds, although he ran faster, splitting 40:27 en route to a 57:31 half-marathon best in Lisbon 2021.
The two-time world champion covered 5km in 13:44 and 10km in 27:15 before coming home ahead of runner-up Mike Fopen of the Netherlands, who ran 43:19, with Britain’s Mark Scott a close third. at 43:21.
Mizan Alem won the women’s competition with a score of 46:51. The former Ethiopian world under-20 5000m champion trailed Dutchman Diane van Ess in the early stages but then surged into the lead, covering 5km in 15:54 and 10km in 31:27.
Alem won by exactly one minute from Van Ess, with Ethiopia’s Enish Mengie third in 49:21 and Ireland’s Fionnuala McCormack fourth in 49:22.
