Jack Catterall rubbed with former welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis and helped him prepare on his October 11 debut on 154 against Uisma Lima in Philadelphia.
Catterall Sparring with Jaron Ennis
The sparring that Catterall (31-2, 13 costs) also serves the purpose of preparing for his collision against Ekow Essuman on the Chris Eubank Jr. Against Conor Benn 2 Undercard on November 15 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stage, Tottenham in London, England.
Fans are concerned that the grueling sparring that Catterall does with “Boot’s Ennis can affect him in the same way that many people believe that Canelo Alvarez’s performance was injured in his loss of Terence Crawford on September 13.

Photos of a Canelo, watching, Trading, standing side by side with Ennis in a ring during the camp indicates that the young 28-year-old phenom was carrying the Mexican star during the camp. This, in turn, may have left Alvarez the exhausted, war-torn fighter who used Crawford in their Turki Alalshikh-funded super fight in Allegiant Stage in Las Vegas. Crawford won a close unanimous decision of 12 round in that battle.
Ringside Take: Catterall’s Ennis that is at risk before Essuman Spar
You can only assume that Ennis took the best part of Canelo out of him and left the empty peel that the opportunistic Crawford benefited from winning a razor decision. What effect did ‘boots’ have on alvarez of the hard sparring? Will he do the same to Catterall, which makes him feed vulnerable and easy prey for Ekow?
The sparring with Ennis could be Catterall’s downfall because he could not be ratified to be exhausted, beaten and half-minded if he opposed Essusman (22-1, 8 COs) on November 15.
It is only Catterall’s second fight at Welterweight, and he did not look impressive in his debut in the weight class against the domestic level fighter, Harlem Eubank. Catterall took a lot of punishment.
In Catterall’s previous match, he went against Arnold Barboza jr. Lost with a 12-round decision on February 15, 2025. The scores were 115-113 for Catterall, 115-113 and 115-113 for Barboza Jr.
