Shakur Stevenson posted on social media today and unveiled his career philosophy: ‘It’s a marathon; Long life is all that matters.“He talks about his career and why he prefers to play it safely by using the struggle and not fighting. His post suggests that he focuses on having a long career by not being beaten, even if it means he is boring and uninhabitable.
Don’t watch
The style is poison for fans to look at, and Stevenson (23-0, 11 COs) is one of the most must-watch fighters in the sport.
The match -promoted Stevenson’s remark about ‘Longevity’ means he uses the long career approach. To do this, he must limit the risks to almost zero to prevent him from taking head shots that can slowly exhaust him. The use of its safety first style goes with this philosophy.
Turki Alalshikh and his promoters already pay him millions. So it doesn’t matter that his fights are boring, not relevant and much less interesting to look at than those of other fighters who do not pay as much as he does. He is paid despite the fact that he did not entertain.
Shakur argues that he has won three divisional titles, which means he is a big fighter. But to put a spotlight on the fighters who beat Shakur to win his belts, many of the top 10 fighters at 126, 130 and 135 beat the fighters from whom he captured his titles.
Stevenson’s three-section titles
– Edwin de Los Santos – WBC Lightweight
– Jamel Herring – WBO Super Featherweight
– Oscar Valdez – WBC and Ring Super Featherweight
– Joet Gonzalez – WBO Featherweight
Rounds decrease?
Stevenson will defend his WBC lightweight title against William Zepeda on July 12 in New York. Fans on social media Hope Shakur will not run away from him in their fellow function. However, one of Stevenson’s coaches said last week that he would “take rounds to protect his hands”. That’s not what fans want to hear.
This means that Shakur will move a lot. As this event, set by Edgar Berlanga against Hamzah Sheeraz, is displayed on PPV, it will upset fans that Stevenson will move all night.
This is a marathon, the longevity is all that matters
