ITF announces launch of players’ care program – tennis now

Professional players have a new ally to support mental health inside and outside the field.

The International Tennis Federation announced the launch of the player care program for all world ITF tournaments, including pro -world tournaments, the wheelchair Tennis tour and the beach tennis tour.

“The global governing body of the game is reinforcing its commitment to support the mental and physical health of the players by providing adapted resources and expert guidance to help athletes manage the challenges of professional tennis,” ITF said in its announcement.

Technology plays a vital role in the players’ care program as ITF says a well -being applied app will allow players to monitor their mental health and better understand that this affects their performance in court.

Here is a list of resources that ITF announced as part of its new players’ care program:

A series of practical, titled sources Welfare mattersCovering topics such as humor regulation, sleep optimization, relationship management and travel fatigue.
Video -based educational materials covering basic financial issues such as budget, savings and sports taxes.
Expert advice on navigating digital landscape and handling online abuse.
Confidential online consultations with well -being professionals.
An online course (developed in partnership with International SOS) that promotes the safety of players while traveling.

An online course offered by the International Olympic Committee that offers life guidelines beyond tennis, building skills and career preparation.

“We admit that players are more than just competitors and this new program is based on the principle that optimal performance as an international tennis player can only be achieved through a combination of physical health and mental well -being,” said ITF President David Haggerty.

“Like the global guardian of the game, we are committed to making sure the sport and his players bloom on all four sides of the globe.

“We are very proud to offer such a comprehensive package of free support materials for tens of thousands of players around the world – from those who compete internationally to those who plan their careers after the competition.”
