Italy win 60 m
At 60m it literally comes down to fractions of a second. The result was
1 Zeinab Doso 7.00
2 Jacious Sears 7.03
3 Julien Alfred 7.03
“I still can’t fully realize what I did. This was something I wanted for years. I took silver and bronze medals before, now I am finally a champion. I will not say that everything turned out perfectly here. I had to change my start a bit because my spikes weren’t gripping the blocks well. I won’t have much time to celebrate. I have an exam on Monday and I have to move to a new house next week, but I will find time to enjoy my family.”

“As a sprinter, there are always things to improve, but I am happy with the silver medal. Excited to match my season best today. I really tried to focus on the things my coach was telling me to improve.
The bronze medal went to 100m Olympic champion Julian Alfred, who explained: “60 meters is very short and the most important thing was the start. Even if it doesn’t look like it, it’s really stressed me out, but I’m happy to bring home a new medal, my St. Lucia.”
There was disappointment for GB in Dina Asher-Smith, who had set a new national record of 7.03 in the semi-final, but could only manage 7.07 to finish seventh. Amy Hunt was 9th in the semi-final, 8 qualified for the final, 2/100th within a second of the final.
