New York – Jessica Pegula has rediscovered its base at the right time. After a rocky wine that let the process and its results interrogate, seed No. 4 has returned to the step in the US Open in Flushing’s meadows, lit in the semifinals in the US Open for the second year in a row.

Turnaround comes after a first round output in Wimbledon that let him recover. Pegula had arrived in London by confidently after winning the title in Bad Homburg, just to clash from the championships while watching IgA Swiatek, which she would just be defeated in the final, to continue setting up the trophy.
“Wimbledon was not excellent,” Pegula admitted. “I was a little frustrated by Wimbledon because I obviously won Bad Homburg and was playing so well, and then of course you see IgA continue to win Wimbledon. I felt like playing good tennis, and just didn’t translate for that round first.”
The loss to Elisabetta Cocciato in Wimbledon was extended, and the disappointment was carried to strong summer courts, where Pegula fell three of the five games before New York. Captured in a flood and interference cycle – even trying new wires – she found herself moving away from the simplicity that has long strengthened its consistency.

“So it was a kind of return to the drawing table,” Pegula told the journalists. “I have to spend a few weeks at home, but I think for the first few weeks I was an excess of overthrowing some things I felt like I had to do better in the difficult courts instead of returning just how I knew I could win a lot of matches. Then I lost some difficult matches. There were only many things.
The Aunt of her turn in New York, Pegula explained, was turning back and returning to the bases.
“I think our goal was just to go back to the right track and simplify things. So there were many things that have happened since Wimbledon, I think, it’s my point,” she said. “There were a lot of discounts, a lot of interesting practices, frankly even leading to a week ago here. So the goal was to simplify things and get back to play my game, and I feel as if we were able to do it. So I’m really happy that the challenge was fulfilled, I think.”
After strengthening the big twice champion, Barbora Krekikova 6-3 6-3 on Tuesday, Pegula finds himself again in the known territory, in a large semifinal once again.
“I want to say that I also do the second week in the quarter, Semis, it’s a great achievement,” she said. “This was my biggest achievement last year was just to pass the quarterfinal. Now I can say I did it twice.”
Next is a strong challenge: a match with world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka, who defeated Pegula in last year’s final at US Open. This time, the American says she will go to court with another mentality.
“I think it would be nice to be able to retaliate, obviously,” she said. “I think this year I have come back with a different perspective, knowing that I was not playing well, to really enjoy the fact that, like, this is very interesting and that I have had really good results here, and I have so much support. So this has been really beautiful.
“I think to enter it if I were to play Aryna again, I would surely have that mentality instead of being so focused, like what I have to do so hard instead of competing and, like enjoying the crowd a little more and enjoying the fact that I am back in this position I may be in another finale and I am the best player. I got at this time. ”
