West Ham United midfielder Edson Alvarez has not taken the opportunity to rule out a possible move to AC Milan after being asked about the recent rumours.
The Mexico international was seen as an exciting signing for the Hammers when he first joined from Ajax, but it’s probably fair to say that some fans I wouldn’t be totally against seeing it sold if the money was right.
Alvarez may have been asked about his West Ham future after a recent report from MilanLive.itthat claimed Milan were interested in a possible exchange deal for the playerfeaturing ex-Chelsea ace Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Alvarez could be tempted to make the move to a big club like Milan, with the 26-year-old perhaps better at the slower pace of the Italian game than he is in the Premier League.
Edson Álvarez does not rule out a transfer from AC Milan
When TV Azteca Deportes asked him about his future, Álvarez said: “Let’s see, if you are in this environment, there will be rumors, both for you and for us. And well, I think that, as they said, it means that you are doing things well, that they direct your attention”, he said.
“I just use it to my advantage. In the sense of continuing to do what I’m doing, trying to get better and, well, increase my confidence.”
Alvarez appears to be very happy to see interest from bigger clubs, and wasn’t particularly desperate to shut down the speculation or commit to his current employers, so that might make some West Ham fans a little uneasy.
At the same time, perhaps some WHUFC supporters will feel the club could do with an Alvarez upgrade anyway, with this rumored swap deal involving Loftus-Cheek perhaps an ideal deal if it can actually be done.
