It was thrown India a cricketer Ishan Kishi staked a claim in India’s squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 with a brilliant knock in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. Kishan scored a fiery hundred as he opened the batting for state Jharkhand.
He was a keeper-dominant shot while showing his class. Captaining his side, he showed great intent from the very first ball which immediately put the Manipur bowlers under pressure.
Chasing 254 runs to win, Ishan Kishan and Utkarsh Singh were quick out of the blocks and didn’t bother to stop. While Utkarsh Singh was steady earlier, Kishan continued to crush the bowlers all around the ground
Jaipur’s Dr. There was carnage at the Soni Stadium as none of the bowlers were good enough to stop Kisha. The left-hander found the gaps with ease and it wasn’t difficult to clear the boundary ropes either.

Ishan Kishi completed his century off just 64 balls. By the time he reached his hundred, he had already hit 14 fours and 3 sixes. Kishan was an innings full of power and accuracy as he was all over Manipur’s bowlers.
He was eventually dismissed by left-arm spinner Kishan Singha for just 78 deliveries for 134 runs. He hit 16 fours and 6 sixes during his innings. The opener batted with an exceptional knock of 171.79 and scored over 50% runs for his side, completing the target almost single-handedly.
Jharkhand easily chased down the target
Another opener Utkarsh Singh was also dismissed by Kishan Singha. Utkarsh was dismissed for 64 off 68 overs. Jharkhand chased down the target in just 28.3 overs Kumar Kushagra and Anukul Roy two unbeaten players at the crease.
Earlier, Manipur scored 253-7 in their first innings. Johnson Singh top-scored for his team with a fine 69, while other batsmen also made vital contributions. Utkarsh Singh and Anukul Roy took two wickets each.
Will Ishan Kishan make India’s ICC Champions Trophy squad?
Ishan Kisha’s knock comes at a time when selectors are focusing on the Vijay Hazare Trophy to select the Indian team for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Kishan was earlier removed from BCCI’s contract list due to indiscipline.
However, he could be back in the national team again with some strong performances here. India are looking for a third opener for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and Kishan could fulfill that criteria if he performs consistently in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Kishan has so far scored 161 runs and an average of 80.50 in two matches with a strike rate of 150.46. He can compete for the upcoming Champions Trophy as a goalkeeper
