Ishan Kishan appeared in the Ranji trophy opener for Jharkhand as he missed his double century with a flurry against Tamil Nadu. With Ajit Agarkar eyeing Ajarkar for the home Tests against South Africa, this is a great time to show promising form.
Indian selector AjIfar would already be under immense pressure after Dhruv Jurel showed command for India in the recent series against West Indies. Also, India’s first-choice Rishabh Pant is set to make his Test comeback with the South Africa series.
Pant missed the last series with an injury that set him back in England during the fourth Test in Manchester. But he is also fit now and is also set to play the opening games for Delhi in the Ranji trophy season as well.

Ishan Kishan auditions for ‘Daddy Hundred’ with ‘Father Hundred’ ahead of South Africa Tests
Dropped and forgotten, the left-handed batsman Ishan Kishan is an opportunity in the Indian squad across any format of the game. However, the star is setting some strong patterns and paving the way for a possible comeback.
The youngster has opened the Ranji trophy this year, where he scored a run on Debut in the County Championship and has now opened in a series of fashions. He dominated with a magnificent knock of 173 against Tamil Nadu. Although he missed the double century with some of his runs, the innings was good enough to knock on the doors of the selectors.
His historic stand of 314 for the seventh wicket ended with Kishan’s dismissal
Leading as Jharkhand’s slip, he walked at No. 5 after Wicket No. 3 fell for just 79 on the board. He saw his team collapse to 157 for 6 but was anchored by Ishan Kishan at one end. He patiently built his 9th century in first-class cricket.
The 7th Wicket Partnership marked a stunning display of 314 runs from 314 runs alongside Sahil Raj as he added 314 runs. His innings came to an end on Day 2 in the morning as he was dismissed by Rs Ambrish.
“We would like to see him play some more cricket and show some of his performances,” Agarkar said of Ishan Kishan earlier this month.
Ishan Kishan was considered as a replacement for Rishabh Shalwar in the playing XI in the final match in England. But he missed the opportunity due to an unfortunate injury and was replaced by Narayan Yagadeesan. Following this, Ajit Agarkar asked him to play and work harder.
“And Ishan – India (as a substitute for Pants in England), Yagadeesan Ishan is injured so we want him to be a bit more of a good player. But we can play a bit more cricket and show some performances,” he said.
The South Africa test series is scheduled to start from November 14 and hence, it comes up either at the end of this month or a week later in the next month.
