Teofimo Lopez took to social media today to complain about Top Rank saying he is “too expensive” for them and blame the chairman, Todd Debouf.
Lopez claims Duboef hasn’t “liked” him and his father since 2018, and that’s why he’s not getting the important matches he wants. Rather, fans see it as a case of Teofimo (21-1, 13 KOs) not performing.
He faced George Kambosos Jr. lost and has struggled in many fights since moving to 140 in 2022. He sounds more and more crazy with his statements on social media and talks about this and that.
Teofimo says he wants her “redemption number.” It’s something he already asked for in a recent post on X.
Previous performance
WBO light welterweight champion Lopez, 27, wants fights against Devin Haney, Terence Crawford, Gervonta Davis, Ryan Garcia and Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis. However, these battles have so far been unattainable. He’s not popular enough to get them, and his many lackluster performances over the past four years have contributed to that.
Lopez looked like 24k gold in the first four years of his career from 2016 to 2020, but he has failed to perform at the same level since 2021. It’s clear to fans that Teofimo was fool’s gold from the start, and he was never as good as the public thought.
His narrow victory over an injured, one-armed, older and much smaller Vasily Lomachenko was the watershed moment in Teo’s career. It’s all been downhill since with his fights against these guys:
– Steve Claggett
– Jamaine Ortiz
– Josh Taylor
– Sandor Martin
– Pedro Campa
– George Kambosos Jr.
Top ranking retained Teofimo’s head above the waterline by how they matched him in the last four years. If they put him in fights with some of the killers he whines about, he would have lost many times and been useless to them. He is quite anyway. Teofimo’s comments outside the ring make him hard to like, and some fans question his sanity.
A history of loathing?
I’m too expensive for TopRank, but the truth is Todd DeBouf is the problem here. He didn’t like me or my dad since I started THE TAKEOVER EST. 2018 and probably before. Now he’s the chairman of TopRank, so people do the math. By law I have freedom of speech 🔺👁️ #Box
