Shakur Stevenson is proud of his performance last Saturday night and stops Josh Padley in the ninth round in a successful defense of his WBC lightweight title at the Riyadh room.
Stevenson (23-0, 11 COs) boasts that he ‘Art of hit and don’t be hit‘In his victory over Padley (15-1, 4 food), selected by his promoter, Eddie Hearn, as the substitute for the Ill Floyd Schofield.
Tank fight another dream
It was not the impressive performance that Olympic silver medalist Stevenson needed in 2016 to impress the supporters or to make a case for him who deserves a fight against Gervonta Davis next. For that low-level opponent, Shakur needed a first round because Padley was not world class. Stevenson’s popularity did not increase with the performance.
It was a step backwards for Shakur, who fought as if he couldn’t fight in a higher gear. He stood upright, hit arms and drove away when he was attacked. It was very timid things and not interesting to look at. Turki Alalshikh should have placed the Shakur Roadley match at the beginning of Saturday’s event with Mohammed Alelel against Engel Gomez and Ziyad Almaayouf against Jonatas Rodrigo Gomes de Oliveira fights.
After the fight, Shakur and Hearn both called out the WBA lightweight champion tank and wanted him for a unification fight next time. Both claim that a tank-Stevenson one is the ‘biggest battle in box’. They both of course know that it was not close to a good performance against the worst fighter who could lure Tank Davis in battle.
A manufactured fighter?
If Hearn is not prepared to fit Shakur against good fighters for fear he will lose, he deserves to be ignored by the tank. If a smooth promoter protects a fighter, as we see with Stevenson, they do not judge the ring. Right now, Shakur looks like a typical fighter, protected by his promoters with the only object to get one big money fight and then discarded as worthless junk after losing. In other words, Stevenson is a Fake milli vanilla-like creation.
Hearn must match Shakur against these fighters to show that he is really:

Many fighters would have been prepared to fight Shakur, but the money was never there to fight against him. He is a Southpot with an ugly defense style running. His fighting is being fueled, and there has never been a reason for any top-level fighter to face the kind of man. If Turki Alalshikh Tank Davis wants to attract Gazillions or one of the other talented fighters like Andy Cruz, he can do it, but the gout will be Shakur. He is not going to beat any of the fighters and will probably look bad to lose.
