Shakur Stevenson says he is not interested in becoming the undisputed lightweight champion. He mentions that fighters who have been united in the past have not become superstars.
Are Shakur the best lightweight?
The focus of Shakur is therefore on getting ‘the biggest fights’ and tackling the ‘best available’ fighters. From there, he says, he will tell the supporters, “I’m the best.”
The problem with the approach is that the best fighters are those who captured the belts, Andy Cruz, Raymond Muratalla and Raymond Muratalla. If Stevenson does not try to unite, this is his way of swinging dangerous battles that he would probably lose against the three.
“It’s not about uniting the titles. It’s not about indisputing. That s *** is cool. I have seen how many people become undisputed like Kambosos (Comment: Kambosos was never undisputed). They didn’t get any big superstars, ‘Shakur Stevenson told Brian Campbell channel When asked about his thoughts on the attempt to be indispensated by lightweight.
Chances are that Shakur would be beaten if he tries to unite the lightweight section against all the soon belly holders. His dismissal of the need to try to capture the IBF and WBC is more about avoiding losses to Andy Cruz and Raymond Muratalla.
Stevenson’s Gervonta Davis exception
Of course, Shakur will fight a one-game against WBA champion Gervonta Davis if Turki Alalshikh can arrange it because the fight will pay Mega millions. So, even if he loses to the tank, he will be rich. At this point, Shakur’s biggest threats at lightweight are these three:
- Raymond Muratalla
- Andy cruz
- Abdullah Mason
Unpaid: Shakur’s Avoidance Strategy
“I think it’s about fighting against the biggest battles, the best available (Josh Padley?) Opponents fighting, and beating them one by one and Then let it be known to be the best at 135 pounds,‘Says Shakur.
How can Stevenson tell fans with a straight face that he is the best fighter at 135 if he is not going to unite the lightweight section against the murderers? It sounds like Shakur is looking for an excuse not to fight Andy Cruz and Raymond Muratalla.
