Let’s play a little game I like to call You are in charge of OEM.
The rules are simple. As CEO, chairman of the board and HMFIC, you have the last word for new omissions. Your company has three handcuffs of players, the oldest of which has been current since the end of 2022. It has been a stellar performer for you. Hell, even those guys in mygolfssy appreciated it #2 In their 2024 testing.
Not only is this iron played by your PGA and LPGA Tour staff, but competitive amateurs and low handicappers love it. Even the fiery double -digit black skills play it.
The calendar, however, says it’s time for an update. Like CEO, you have a decision to make. Do you flip the dice in a full adjustment? This is bold but it can also make you a HI-Ceo. You can simply put on a pretty new dress and call it “new and improved”. You can leave with it for some release cycles, but this is not really blocking your company. It has never been.
The best choice, however, can be simply sharing the change. Give it enough significant improvements to matter (and make your tour staff happy) and maybe tear aesthetics to give it more sex withdrawal.
In short, do it better, but do not ef*#k.
That’s the way Ping has chosen with its new I240 shackles. However, the question is: did the ping go too far or not so far?
Ping i240 handcuffs: stuck in the middle with you
Ping has called its “intersections” services for years (this is now changing), but its series I can be the true intersections in the ping lineup. I2 Lin is the iron of a player in size and available conditions, but it is significantly larger, more forgiving and higher than the ping project S.
However, line I2 is smaller, less forgiving, released lower and weaker than iron in the distance ping I5-player. I5, on the other hand, is smaller, less forgiving and lower than the cuffs of G-series game improvement.

In this sense, you will think I240 would mix beautifully I530 (or his next replacement later expected this year). Ping, however, thinks of I240 as a project line complement.
“Three different iron sizes, three different goals of the trajectory,” says Stockke. “The T project is the lowest flight with the most shallow landing angle. The project is in the middle while the I240 is the highest start with the steep landing angle.”
Based on the Lofts and the lower location of the CG, it will be the lower rotation of all three, too. Stockka says one-third of the PGA staff at PGA Tour and half of the LPGA Tour staff has at least one I230/240 in their bags.
“It is the first step in long iron replacement. We really work to make all three of these handcuffs work well together. We know there will be a high percentage of mixed groups there.”
So what’s new in ping i240?
When updating a club that has been such a success, Ping became the hypocratic oath of Golf Club stylist: Do not harm.
The most noticeable change is in appearance and, in this case, I am not 100 percent convinced that the ping is applied to the oath. I230 was a cavity backWith ping doing a nice job to make it don’t look like a cavity back. Taking stuffed in the cavity, giving iron a clean look, almost like blade.
With I240, the ping did not necessarily make a step back, but it is, at least, a jump on the left. Or maybe one step to the right. Either way, the new symbol of multi -layer moisture makes the club look exactly like what it is, a cavity back.
“Is ABS plastic material that is very lightweight,” says Stockke. “It’S’S’S chrome chrome with an inlay of carbon fibers. It saves a significant amount of mass.”
In general, the symbol saves nearly 10 grams compared to I230 Badging. Carbon fiber contributes to those few savings, but Stoke says its main purpose is cosmetic.
As with I230, the ping carves a significant amount of mass from the cavity of I240, replacing it with an elastomer material. Combined with the symbol, elastomer moistens the sound, especially the frequencies with the highest tip that can make an iron sound and feel delicious.
Moreover, everything that is saved is repositioned along the perimeter. This added the weighing of the perimeter combined with a high density and easier symbol helps to increase the general MOI throughout the set by 2.5 percent. For an iron, the size of ping I240, this is not irrelevant.
“These are great benefits on the heels and heels,” says Stockke. “Oni a major reason why we see many long cuffs in the game in the tournament.”
Is ping messing with a good thing?
If you have been paying attention, no doubt you have noticed that ping shackles are a much better hell than it used to be. For a company with a tradition of functioning of form, this has been a great kind.
If viewed as a progress, Project t leak Plan. The jump from the I230 project was similarly smoothly such as the I230 to I530. They looked like a family.
This new i240 is not a bad -looking club at all. However, in trying to make it look more forgiving (which, compared to I230, is), the ping changed the formula of transition smoothly. It is difficult to anticipate the I240 aesthetics that apply for everything that replaces I530 (apparently I540). The cuffs of player distance are hungry, multi -piece construction. It will be interesting to see how ping includes black carbon fiber.
Another change may or may not attract to you. As happened with the latest update in the project shackles, Ping is throwing its Micromax
Groove technology from I240. Micromax is a spin maximization technology. It puts tighter grooves on the face, and more of them. The idea is to keep the rotation from the rough.
However, what learned ping is that Micromax Grooves had the opposite effect on the highway. From there, the spin actually went down. This proved to be problematic as the benefits of the tournament and the best players reached up to 70 percent of their iron shooting from the right road from 150 yards and inside them, more rotations in those shots is better than stepping on all shooting.
“When they are on track, they want to maximize rotation. This is what our tour -favored separation does, a little wider of the habit. Now it is in line with the T and S. project.”
Ping I240: Specifications, Price and Availability
Like its predecessor, the ping i240 is cast from 431 stainless steel. (For the record, Project t AND ARE 8620 Forged. I530 has a counterfeit face of marriage steel). Like others, the I240 contains the completion of Ping’s Hydropearl 2.0 for peak performance in wet conditions.
I240 will be available in 3-and i heaved through Pitching Wedge plus a gap wedge (ping calls it a UW for Wedge Utaly). It will be available at all 10 angles of ping color lies in left and right patterns.
Ping is also making a change in the shaft shaft of the stock. I230 came with Dynamic Gold 105. Ping i240 new will have a little heavier Nippon NS modus3 115. Nippon Touts 115 as a slightly lower boot, slightly lower rotation and increasingly severe version of its popular modus3 105.
Ping Alta CB Blue is the stock graphite offer. As usual, the ping has a wide line of optional shares.
