Is Keyshawn Davis stalking Gervonta Davis?

A shrill-sounding Keyshawn Davis posted a long, rambling video rant today targeting Gervonta Davis and saying he wants to fight him. Keyshawn (11-0, 7 KOs) begged Baltimore native Tank Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) to “send me the contract,” but then, in the next breath, said, “I got you not necessary.”

It sounded like crazy double talkand what made it worse was that Keyshawn appeared almost in tears. You can tell by how emotionally keyed he was in his call from Tank that he really wants that fight, but the way he keeps mentioning it almost sounds like he is obsessed. It’s when it’s just an occasional exclamation, but when you hear it in every interview, it sets off stalker alarm bells.

As of last Friday, Keyshawn has frequently mentioned his victory over his chosen opponent, Gustavo Lemosand said that his victory over the Argentine would be remembered for the next ten years. I can’t tell if he was serious or messing around, talking nonsense to get attention. Keyshawn goes the wrong way with his tactic of hitting tomato cans, trying to make them sound like gold, and then immediately tanking after them.

Beating Lemos isn’t even a starting point to getting a profitable, life-changing money fight against King Tank. It is actually deteriorating. To begin building for a chance to meet his highness, Tank, Keyshawn must run the warrior Andersonville-esque gauntlet without falling apart along the way.

It would make more sense for Keyshawn to ask for a fight against Tank if he defeats The Big Four:

  1. Andy Cruz
  2. Raymond Muratalla
  3. Edwin Delos Santos
  4. Abdullah Mason

Lemos was coming off a loss to Richardson Hitchins, and his only notable win on his resume came against 35-year-old Lee Selby. His resume is completely void of wins over non-shot fighters, and he looked poor in his April 6 loss to Hitchins. Watching Hitchins-Lemos fight, it immediately becomes clear why Keyshawn chose Lemos.

Keyshawn demands tank to send contract

“Tell light skin (Gervonta Davis) to snap out of his feelings and send me a contract. It’s straight up,” Keyshawn Davis continued social mediaand says he wants Gervonta Davis to send him a contract so they can fight after he beat the select Gustavo Lemos last Friday night in Norfolk.

Keyshawn is going to wait a long time for the contract of Tank Davis to be sent. If he wants to gain a following in the sport, he needs to stop using Tank’s name for power and encourage Top Rank to match him against good fighters instead of what they have been doing. Lemos, Miguel Madueno, Jose Pedraza and Nahir Albright are top fighters.

“I don’t need him, but I want to fight this man. It has nothing to do with being tough,” Keyshawn said. “It has nothing to do with me proving myself. I want to fight him straight up because he has cheated the game of boxing for too long.”

The 25-year-old Keyshawn could do himself a huge favor if he fights his old nemesis Andy Cruz of Cuba from his amateur days and shows the boxing world that he can beat his four-time conqueror. Cruz had Keyshawn’s number, and it would look good if he chose to fight him. Even if Keyshawn gets schooled again, fans will respect his bravery.

The Businessman Wants to Be Doubted

“He makes (things) look good. He makes (things) look better than they are. Resume what?” Keyshawn said of Tank Davis. “What kind of resume does he have? He has no resume, man. He got fighters that we knew he was going to win. I try not to hear anything about it.”

No one is arguing that Tank Davis has a great resume, but he is still popular because he puts on exciting performances. He doesn’t pick soft opposition out of losses like Keyshawn did with Lemos and Jose Pedraza.

“I need the whole world to be against me in that fight so I can show you how great I really am,” Keyshawn said. “I don’t need anyone for me for that fight. I’m going to be a superstar next year, against him or not. The only reason it won’t happen is because he doesn’t want it to happen.”

There is no way Keyshawn will ever be a superstar with the way his career is going. For one, he’s being pushed the same way Edgar Berlanga was when he was at Top Rank, fighting exclusively with tomato cans to make him look better than he is.

You don’t create superstars who are compared to cans like Keyshawn faced. If Keyshawn is lucky, he could be a false star in the Milli Vanilli mold and then look to get a Berlanga-esque cash payout.

“I’m going to do it to him. No Diddy. What happened at the Scope Arena in Virginia is going to be remembered for at least the next ten years,” Davis said.
