Lightweight contender Abdullah Mason, who serves as the co-function on the Keyshawn Davis vs Edwin de Los Santos Card, will tackle the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, Jeremiah Nakathila (26-4, 21 kos) on Saturday night, June 7.
This upcoming boxing is the second time WBO lightweight champion Keyshawn Davis is fighting in his hometown of Norfolk, Virginia, and this is also the second time that Abdullah Mason will be part of Davis’s hometown event.
Abdullah Mason, a native of Bedford, Ohio, who now fights from Cleveland, made his pro -box debut in November 2021 when he stopped Jaylan Phillips in the second round. Mason put his career on speed control when he stopped 12 of his next 14 opponents.
In the sixteenth struggle of his professional career, Abdullah Mason faced adversity as his heart was tested. In the evening, Keyshawn Davis had his first homecoming event in November 2024, Abdullah Mason struggled in a match planned for eight rounds.
In the opening round of the competition, both Mason and Vasquez Foot Feints use and try to find the right series. With 2:12 in the 1st round, Vasquez Mason overtook when he produced a solid left hand.
Thirty-four seconds later, Mason returned the favor when he contacted a sharp left side who sent Vasquez to the canvas. Vasquez got up, but despite the leg injury, he scored a second knockout when he hit Mason left hand with a hard counter.
Due to his leg injury, Vasquez became an immobile target at the beginning of the second round. Mason would beat Vasquez for a second time, and unfortunately for Vasquez he was counted.
Mason would continue to achieve two additional victories through TKO. Now, 21-year-old lightweight contender, Abdullah Mason (18-0, 16 COs) is planning to get the hard hit Jeremiah Nakathila.
Mason knows that he should stay focused and take care of the night of June 7, but if he is successful, Mason has already figured out his next step. If both boxers win on June 7, Mason wants to encounter WBO lightweight world champion Keyshawn Davis.
During a recent interview with Fightype, lightweight contender Abdullah Mason talked about the possibility of challenging WBO world champion Keyshawn Davis.
“We are both in the same section, and I just got the news in my last interview that I am the number two in the WBO, and he is the champion in that sanction body. So it seems very possible that he and I would cross him and him, “Mason said.
Mason may be in line to oppose Keyshawn Davis next, but besides fighting the fight against Davis, there is another way Mason can acquire the WBO band. Recent speculation has broken over Keyhawn Davis’s potential move to the 140 pound division.
If Keyshawn Davis overcomes Saturday night, and then he continues to go to the Super Lightweight division, the WBO Lightweight World title will seize. In that particular scenario, Abdullah Mason and WBO-top contender Sam Noakes would fight for the vacant WBO band.
However, Abdullah Mason was not fixed on just Keyshawn Davis and the WBO Lightweight World title. In his above interview, Mason talked about the eye on any of the belt holders of the division.
“Anyone in the lightweight section. Any of the champions, Keyshawn Davis, Tank Davis, Shakur Stevenson, Raymond Muratalla,” Mason said. “You know it’s four champions and I’m crawling on everyone. So, any opportunity that is thrown my way, I’m ready for it. ‘
