Driver Cleveland Hibore XL
What do we like
-
Longen long, is forgiving and easy to hit.
What we don’t like
-
It looks shocked, but you definitely grow.
Ultimately
Cleveland Hibore XL lives up to his legendary name. It may simply be the surprise driver of 2025.

We tried it: Driver Cleveland Hibore XL
Golf and I broke up for a while.
With “for a while,” I mean 16 years.
My first baby was born in May 1991, just as I started breaking 80 regularly. My second child was born 16 months later. At a time when the fourth child was born in 1996, golf was impossible.
Soon forward to 2007. A new job with a corporate golf culture meant to return to the game and get new clubs.
Which brings us to the original Cleveland Hibore. It was my first driver of the “big boy” and, hell, I loved that club. I loved she went long and (mostly) straight. I loved people’s heads would be drawn in the direction range when I hit him to see what the hell was that noise. In retrospect, I loved all that was $ 299.
Being a golf player, Hibore was traded in a few years later for a Ping G10 who was traded for a Taylormade R1 who traded on … you get the idea.
So when Cleveland turned the hiborene again Last month, your faithful writer suffered a confusing mix of excitement and skepticism. Would it be any good or would it just be another no -interest driver from Cleveland? What about the price of $ 399?
Some string trips and some departure monitor sessions told me Cleveland could be in something. The real test, however, is in the course. After a two-day, 72-year-old Golfapalooza in Orlando immediately after Christmas, I have an answer for you.
Warning, Dear Reader: You may be surprised.
What is Cleveland Hibore XL?
Short Answer: It’s a Dorito with a Tensei shaft.
Long answer: Maybe it’s the most innovative driver we’ve seen in years. Cleveland returned her Etch-Sketch with him, shocked her until the screen was cleaned and told her super-company to make a driver with a big face, deep with my maximum.
She came up with a triangular hibore. It is important to note that the hibore is not only a triangle for its hell. Cleveland began his design process he focused on the biggest, most forgiving face possible, and then required a high Moi. The only way to do it while also in accordance with the USGA rules was to create this thing George Jetson.
Yes, I know that there was a triangle-HI drivers before.
Regardless, this three -sided beast is a dangerous business action for Cleveland. But when you are a ran also in the driver’s market, playing it safe is even more dangerous. Sometimes you just have to say, “What hell”
Based on what we have learned, it is a risk that is paid. Hibore is a pretty good driver.
And have we mentioned that it is $ 399?
String impressions
I try to fight it, but I’m so prone to seeing judgments that I’m to catch hooks. That is why my first five or six shakes in the spill of the sagamore golf center caught my attention. Each of them was a long, narrow draw that went to where I aimed, just over the large wooden cow about 210 yards outside.
I changed it back and forth with my gamer, ping G430 max 10k, and discovered that I was getting acceptable results with both. The distance for both was, at best, an appreciation, but neither I and I saw anything that made one of us go “Moo”.
For the record, the ping was ordered with a vent of the Ventus Blue TR shaft to play at 45.25 inches. Hibore is shares all the way: nine degrees with a blue shaft Mitsubishi Tensei playing at 46 inches.
Only when I got Cleveland on a golftec launch monitor, did I start cheating on myself. My normal swing speed is 92 to 94 mph. Normal discs are 235 to 240 yards though, when the stars line up, I can reach 250 with a good scroll. With Cleveland Hibore XL, I was hitting 96 to 97 mph with some of my best blows that ended 260 past. One blow hit 100 mph and, like her, was again 2007.
After some other sessions, I couldn’t expect to get this bad guy in the course.
We tried it on the first day: Johnny Orlando at dawn…
The two-day adventure Orlando presented 36 holes in the Creek Shingle with 36 more the next day at the celebration. Cleveland Hibore XL I started three of the four rounds and I kept statistics using a Garmin S70 hour.
We left as the sun was rising and my first Hibore car was a carbon copy of my experiences in Sagamore. It was a beautiful, penetrating draw that found the right path only to the right of center 261 yard away.
This first car was what you want everyone, but, alas, everyone is not. While there were still many Ka-Biomers to find roads in those 36 holes, where the Shone Cleveland Hibore XL was on less than perfect strikes. Of the 26 shots hit with Hibore, 20 were on the road while the rest were all movable. Some shots I know were towards the heel or toe that would normally have been in real trouble were still acceptable and with more distance than I would think.
I’m not sure but I think it’s the definition of forgiveness.
Until the afternoon, I was released enough and the course was dried and a little strengthened. The afternoon distances reflected the strongest conditions.
Day One Statistics:
26 tee shots
20 straight roads
5 rough
1 bunker of road waste
Average distance: 245 (235 in the morning, 250 afternoon)
Best bomb: 278
Note: Sea conditions in the morning, turning much more strongly later; a slight breeze
Not bad for the first two rounds in over a month and a half.
We tried it Day Two: A two -round fairy tale
After spending the first day in the luggage, Ping started starting on the second day. Unfortunately, the Earth was gentle of the rain at night and was one of those rounds where, no matter what, the wind seemed to be on your face. Moreover, I could not constantly find the sweet place and the results reflected it. Optically, the 10K head looked thick, as he looked at Dorito -shaped Hibore the day before. Fatigue was also a factor – after such a long break, 72 holes in two days is a hell of a lot of golf when you are 64 years old. After foozling tee shots at 15, 17 and 18 (twice), the ping landed on the last 18th and Hibore strengthened its holding in the starting lineup. Let’s say we had better results in the second round. Mostly…
Two Statistics Day:
Round 1 – with ping
13 shots
8 direct roads.
2 light
3 out of the game
Average distance: 213
Best bomb: 224
Round 2 – with hibore
13 shots
11 Hitways Hit
2 light
0 out of the game
Average distance: 235
Best bomb: 255
Note: rain overnight, very wet conditions; first round mainly in a predominant breeze
Mean what all this means?
We tried this to come with many warnings and asterisks. Of course, I chose a swing speed with Hibore but it was a full inch longer than ping. On the other hand, the ping was custom equipped with what would be considered an “exotic” axis update. Hibore was action, though Tensei Blue is a shaft with which I tend to associate and works well with Hibore. Direct comparison at the holiday is interesting. I’m not sure how stunning change in appearance plays a role in visual comfort. This was not a blind test, of course, and we all know that the mind can play very filthy tricks on us when he wants.
Moreover, I Gamed Ping G430 Max 10k for almost all season 2024 with very satisfactory results in general. She testified to be long enough for the courses and sneezing boxes I play (6,200 to 6,500 yards). Long -season statistics show that I hit the fairways in an 59 percent clip with an average distance of 237. I won’t go crazy too much for the ping driving distance in Florida as it was windy and every course was wetter in the morning than They were in the afternoon. However, head-to-head, I will have to say that there is something about that Dorito with view of Dorito son-of-a-abitch who agrees with me.
We tried it: Cleveland Hibore goes in the bag!
Three rounds are enough to know if something will work for you. After 54 holes, Cleveland Hibore XL will begin 2025 in the starting lineup. Yes, it seems strange, but the more you look at it, the more strangeness begins to fade. And, friends, if there is a fundamental truth in Golf, is this: 54 long and fair value holes will make everything look very damn sexy.
So the year 2025 begins with Cleveland Hibore in the bag. There is still a head -to -head coming up with under 70 859 new and I still have to demonstrate the new Ping G 440 or any of the new things from Taylormade, Callaway, Cobra, Mizuno and Wilson.
As a wise man once used to say:
“We’ll see.”
