A wicketkeeper-batsman in Cummins’ absence Ishan Kishi was appointed the stand-in captain for the first part of the tournament Abhishek Sharma works as a vice-captain.
Vettori supported the decision, appreciating Kisha’s experience and energetic approach to leadership. He expressed confidence that the young Indian star can handle the pressure of leading the side, especially in the big opening game.
Interestingly, Cummins himself had previously endorsed Kisha’s leadership ability, further boosting the team’s decision.
