
Past Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) ppinner Ravichandran ashwin provided a detailed strategic outlook on the potential trade to be made Sanju Samson Switch from RR to CSK. He talks on his show ‘Ash Ki Baat,’ Ashwin touched on the hot-button miss of Samson’s capital chance and stressed that the Wicketeeper’s demise should necessitate a complete overhaul of CSK’s top order.

Ashwin was clear that despite his leadership experience with the Royals, he should be handed the captaincy in his first season. He believes the franchise will stick with the incumbent, Travel Giikwadso far ordering Samson as a long-term succession plan.
“I don’t think Sanju will get the captaincy in my CSK because it will be his first year and I am not sure if they will give him the captaincy right away. Ashwin said.

Ashwin opts for CSK’s new look for the IPL 2026 edition
Ashwin pointed out that Samson’s arrival will be a massive strategic benefit for CSK as he plugs a critical hole in the batting line-up. The trade would allow CSK to deploy an entirely new and exciting Indian trio, with Gaikwad moving out of the usual opening slot to accommodate Samson. Ashwin revealed the proposed new structure:
“CSK also benefit by closing that gap at the top order. Ayush and Sanju can open, Ruturaj can come in at three whatever they want to do. It gives them balance.” Ashwin is over.
This change will provide the team with a dynamic opening pair Ayush Mhatre and Samson expressed his desire to bat as Gaikwad was bowled in basically the same position in the 2025 edition, which was followed by Gaikwad at No.3.
