Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Dr Shivakumar Assuring that all the fixtures will remain at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during the 2026 season, it has put an end to all the speculation about shifting IPL matches from Bengaluru. Speaking after voting in the KSCA elections, Shivakumar said that losing the IPL is unacceptable, the tournament is not watched as a symbol of the state’s pride.
The stadium tragedy, including the IPL, directly addressed the queries about the relocation of the UPL, including the stadium tragedy, giving an unequivocal statement: “It is a matter of respect for the state of Karnataka and Bengaluru. We will take steps to ensure that the next IPL matches are played here.” Shivakumar emphasized his personal commitment to the sport, “I’m a cricket fan.”
He added that the government will host all available cricket matches, including those from women’s cricket matches: “We will allow any match to happen in the coming days.” His belief stands as a significant political commitment to preserve Bengaluru’s status as a central hub for Indian cricket, citing security and structural concerns, dismissing security and structural concerns.

In addition, he revealed a long-term plan for the development of new infrastructure and a long-term plan to support the growing demand for large-scale matches: “Furthermore, as an alternative, we will build a bigger stadium.” This comprehensive plan is designed to safeguard the future of major cricket events in Bengaluru.
