In a thrilling finale at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Gujarat Titans (GT) they held their nerve to lose Delhi Capitals (DC) By a single run in the 14th over IPL 2026. Looking to bowl first after losing the toss, Delhi fought back brilliantly but fell agonizingly short, finishing at 209/8 in reply to Gujarat’s 210/4.
Gujarat Titans top-ranked firing in one voice
Gujarat’s innings was built on three magnificent half-centuries. Captain Shubman Gill led the way with a classy 70 off 45 balls (4 fours, 5 sixes) and anchored the innings after an early wicket. Jos Buttler continued his rich vein of form, destroying 52 off just 27 deliveries (3 fours, 5 sixes) before falling to Kuldeep Yadav. The duo added 60 runs for the second wicket.
The late onslaught was boosted by Washington Sundar, who played a breathtaking cameo of 55 (6 fours, 2 sixes) off 32 balls, adding 104 runs for the third wicket with Gill. Glenn Phillips secured the final with an unbeaten 9 off 14 as Gujarat. He finished with 210/4 in 20 overs.
Mukesh Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets each for Delhi, but the bowlers leaked runs in 10.5 overs.
DC chase: KL Rahul’s futile exploits
Chasing 211, Delhi lost Pathum Nissanka (41 off 24) after a solid 76-run opening stand with KL Rahul. Nitish Rana (5) and Sameer Rizvi (0) fell cheaply and Delhi were struggling at 134/4 when Axar Patel (2) departed.
KL Rahul stood tall, played a captain’s knock of 92 off 52 balls (probably 9 fours, 3 sixes) and held the innings together. David Miller (41 not out from 20) and Vipraj Nigam (7 from 12) kept Delhi in the hunt, but Rashid Khan’s miserly spell (4-0-17-3) and Prasidh Krishna’s two wickets stifled the run flow.
Needing 11 in the final over, Delhi managed just 9, with Kuldeep Yadav running out the last ball as he attempted his second run. Gujarat registered a thrilling 1-run win, their second win of the season.
Rashid Khan was the pick of the Gujarat bowlers, returning impressive figures of 3/17 in 4 overs, dismissing Nitish Rana, Sameer Rizvi and Axar Patel. Prasidh Krishna (2/52) and Mohammed Siraj (1/52) provided support. Miller’s denial of a single in the penultimate ball spelled Delhi’s defeat.
