MS Dhoni appreciates the unexpected excitement of the IPL auction
Dhoni emphasized that in the IPL, everyone feels like a “team owner”, with opinions and strategies on which players to buy making the auction a widely discussed and analyzed event.
“Everyone has a team now. Which player they want, which player comes to the auction, which player they will buy, that’s what we have to do, that’s how the IPL auction is.” Dhoni said in RIGI Prabhav 2024.
Dhoni also highlighted the unpredictability of the auction, noting that the players do not know their future teams. He also noted that fans enjoy guessing which teams players will join.
“People come to the auction and you don’t know where you are going. The best part is the fans because they predict which team a certain player will go to“he added.
The former wicketkeeper stressed that in the IPL auction, every team has funds to bid, so players should be ready to play for whichever team they choose. This is the unique aspect of the IPL auction.
“Look, you’re in the market and all the teams have money. Whoever buys you, you have to play for them. That’s the beauty of the IPL auction“, – Ranchi-lad concluded.
