Adidas has unveiled its latest road racing shoe, the Adizero Adios Pro 4

Starting with the launch of their range-topping Evo 1 road racing shoesathletes who found the ultra-premium £450 price tag waiting for the latest version of the brand’s most popular marathon running shoe, the Adios Pro. Pro 3: more competitively priced at £220 and you can actually buy them. The Evo 1 was produced in very limited quantities, which created a buzz and the shoe sold out immediately despite the price tag.
Fortunately, Pro 4: takes on many features Evo 1: and brings us the best Adidas road racing shoe I’ve ever worn.
Right out of the box the shoe is extremely light (200g) and super responsive. The brand’s new double layer of Lightstrike Pro foam is softer than the previous version, and with carbon energy bars carried over from the Evo 1, the result is a more responsive and instantly faster-feeling shoe.

The bars now bend a little further back underfoot than in the previous version, which means the transition to the forefoot takeoff phase is a little quicker and more involved.
The new, single-layer mesh upper features a minimalist design to reduce weight, yet provides the shoe’s structure and secure fit. The new Lighttraxion outsole provides grip with a small continental rubber insert on the toe for optimal traction on the toe.
The Athletics’ cushioning is 39mm below the legal limit of 40mm, and that should ensure any records broken, perhaps at this weekend’s marathon in Berlin, where the shoe goes on public sale, will be validated.
The brand clearly has records on its mind as well as major marathon podiums. Tigst Assefa smashed women’s marathon world record Running 2:11:53 in Berlin last year wearing the Evo 1 shoe.
