Maxwell’s twins, Mia and Maria, are among the top young sprinters in the country. At the USATF Indoor Championships this past weekend, Mia finished second (7.13, a new US high school record) and Maria ran a 7.14 for third (3rd all-time, a US high school record).
Mia and Maria have captured the attention of track fans across the country.
Mariah Maxwell set an American high school 300-meter record of 36.24 seconds at the 2026 Virginia showcase.
Mia Maxwell won the 200m national title at the 2025 USATF U20 National Championships, plus the 100m title at the NIKE Outdoor Nationals.
I met the Maxwells in the Mixed Zone and wanted to know how they train together, get into arguments like other sisters (I grew up with twins, a third sister and a brother) and how they feel about sports.
Mia and Mariah Maxwell were so much fun. They will compete at the NIKE Indoors next week (March 12-15, 2026).
Here is our interview.
