Major League Baseball’s offseason is heating up as New York Yankees top free agent prospect Juan Soto is expected to sign with the team within the next week.
While all eyes are on Soto’s lottery pick, Baltimore Orioles free agent Corbin Burns remains available.
There hasn’t been nearly as much talk of Burns’ free agency than Soto’s, but Burns is an ace-caliber starter who has also performed well in the postseason.
MLB insider Jon Heyman named five teams interested in signing Burns, and some of them are the same teams interested in Soto.
“Yankees, Boston, Toronto, San Francisco, maybe Baltimore,” Heyman said via Channel X’s B/R Walk-Off.

The Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays all match the names of teams interested in Soto and Burns.
Whichever of these teams ends up signing Soton will likely keep an eye on Burns as their next target.
Burns entered the league with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2018, where he played six seasons before coming to the Orioles in 2024.
In 2024, Burns started 32 games and went 15-9 with 181 strikeouts in 194.1 innings.
The 30-year-old right-handed pitcher not only pitches well in the regular season, but he also pitches well in the postseason, as he showed with the Orioles in 2024.
In the wild-card game against the Kansas City Royals, Burns went eight innings, allowing five hits, one earned run and one walk while striking out three.
Once the Soto lottery is over, Burns will be the next name on the list to keep an eye on.
