The signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer remains an opportunity “too good to miss” for Real Madrid, according to La Liga pundit Matteo Moretto.
The England international has been heavily linked with the Whites in recent months. With his contract expiring at the end of this season, that conversation hasn’t died down.
According to Moretto, things have yet to progress further, but it’s clear that Real Madrid still highly regard Alexander-Arnold as one of their key targets at the moment.
“The truth is that we are not much further from where we were when we broke the news in March. Real Madrid are still very interested in him,” Moretto wrote Daily briefing by Fabrizio Romano.
“They want to renew Dani Carvajal, and if nothing goes wrong, he will extend his contract. He’s still a key piece in the dressing room, but with Trent Alexander-Arnold, the chance to potentially land a player of his quality on a free is too good to pass up. He continues to be very, very well regarded by Blancos.”
Could Bellingham hold the key to luring Trent away from Liverpool?

Naturally, given his time alongside the England national team, Alexander-Arnold is close friends with Jude Bellingham.
Moretto dropped the name of the current Real Madrid star, suggesting he could play a key role in the negotiations.
However, Madrid’s first hurdle will be to send an official offer to Alexander-Arnold’s representatives before Liverpool can make progress in negotiating a new contract to keep him at Anfield.
“Jude Bellingham and Alexander-Arnold know each other very well,” continued Moretto.
“Real Madrid have not made any official offer to their agents or anything for him, and the truth is that Liverpool have not gone that far either.
“Before making a financial offer, his talks with Alexander-Arnold’s camp will focus on deciding whether he wants to stay at the club or not, and then negotiating the finances.”
