Insider says Juan Soto could set new record with contract

Major League Baseball fans have been on the edge of their seats lately, waiting for free agent Juan Soto to decide where he will play in 2025.

There are many rumors about how much Soto will sign and what team he will choose.

Teams involved in negotiations with Soto include the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox.

MLB insider Jon Heyman revealed that four different teams could be on the hook for a 15-year deal worth more than $700 million.

“I think he’s going to set a record,” Heyman said via the B/R Walk-Off on “X.”

Soto is only 26 years old and is a generational talent that could completely change the trajectory of the organization he joins.

In Soto’s first year with the Yankees in 2024, he batted .288 with 41 home runs, 109 RBI and a .989 OPS.

Along with dominating the regular season, Soto also excels in the postseason, as he proved in the Yankees’ 2024 World Series run.

In 14 games in the postseason, Soto batted .327 with four home runs, nine RBIs and a 1.101 OPS.

Soto’s sweepstakes will soon be over, as it has been reported that he is expected to sign next week during the winter meetings.

It’s unclear which way Soto is leaning, and whether he’ll simply join whichever team offers him the most money.

Once Soto signs, it will likely open the way for the rest of the free agent class to sign with teams.
