The Arizona Diamondbacks missed the postseason in 2024 after finishing third in the National League West.
A year removed from a 2023 World Series appearance, the Diamondbacks failed to create the same magic.
The Diamondbacks added a key piece to their rotation this offseason when they signed starting pitcher Corbin Burns from the Baltimore Orioles.
Along with Burns, the Diamondbacks also traded with the Cleveland Guardians to acquire first baseman Josh Naylor.
MLB insider Ken Rosenthal recently revealed why the Diamondbacks are reaching out to free agents.
“This team, the Arizona Diamondbacks, is the only team that practices in the spring in the same city that they play in the regular season,” Rosenthal said, via Foul Territory .

Rosenthal also noted that many players live in the Arizona area and that the tax rates are good.
He makes some points that fans don’t think about, but players probably want to be at home as much as possible.
While Rosenthal said the Diamondbacks are reaching out to free agents, they only brought in Burns this offseason.
It will be interesting to see if some of Rosenthal’s points lure other free agents to Arizona before the 2025 season begins.
