Major League Baseball’s offseason was full of excitement and drama as the free agent class signed with new teams for the 2025 season.
Some of the big moves so far include Juan Soto signing with the New York Mets, Corbin Burns signing with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Max Fried with the New York Yankees and Blake Snell with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
While most free agents have already decided where their new home will be, one free agent remains available with an uncertain destination.
MLB Insider John Morosi recently addressed free agent Pete Alonso and rumors that the Los Angeles Angels may be interested in the power-hitting first baseman.
“The Angels want another at-bat … but I would say this about Alonso. I still don’t see a team in the major leagues that has a better chance of getting Pete Alonso than the New York Mets,” Morosi said, via MLB Network. :
“Right now, I don’t see a team more interested in (Pete) Alonso than his original employer, the New York Mets.”

The Angels are the latest team rumored to be interested in Alonso, but Morosi said he believes the 30-year-old would be the best fit with the Bigs.
Alonso played all six seasons of his MLB career with New York and had great success in a tough market.
In 2024, Alonso appeared in all 162 games and batted .240 with 34 home runs, 88 RBI and a .788 OPS.
Alonso is one of the top free agents left, and it will be interesting to see if he and the Mets can agree on a deal to bring him back.
