The Arizona Diamondbacks surprised everyone with their postseason run to the 2023 World Series.
However, they missed the postseason in 2024 despite finishing with an 89-73 record.
Staying atop the National League West with the Los Angeles Dodgers is no easy feat, so the Diamondbacks will need to add some talent this offseason to try and contend for a title.
So far, the Diamondbacks have signed starting pitcher Corbin Burns from the Baltimore Orioles and also traded for first baseman Josh Naylor from the Cleveland Guardians.
MLB insider Steve Gilbert recently revealed what the Diamondbacks’ next move is.
“It certainly seems like when you’re sitting there with seven starters like they are, they can move one of those guys and maybe fill some other holes that they have,” Gilbert said, via MLB Network.

The Diamondbacks seemed to come out of nowhere with the Burns signing, as many MLB analysts didn’t have them on the radar.
With the addition of Burns, the Diamondbacks now have seven starters: Burns, Zach Gallen, Merrill Kelly, Eduardo Rodriguez, Brandon Pfad, Ryne Nelson and Jordan Montgomery.
Gilbert suggests they could trade Montgomery, who had a breakout year in 2024, appearing in 25 games and going 8-7 with a 6.23 ERA and 83 strikeouts in 117.0 innings.
The Diamondbacks could be just a few steps away from winning their first NL West title since 2011.
