The New York Yankees made a postseason run, appearing in their first World Series since 2009, although they lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
If the Yankees are going to return to the World Series next season, they will have to do so without one of their best players as free agent Juan Soto signed with the New York Mets.
Although the Yankees missed the chance to bring Soto back, they made some other moves in an attempt to improve their roster.
One trade the Yankees could make involves a trade for Chicago Cubs outfielder Cody Bellinger.
MLB insider Jon Heyman revealed an update on trade talks between the Yankees and Cubs on Bellinger.
“Bellinger’s trade talks with the Yankees and Cubs are still $ open as of this minute,” Heyman said via his X account.
As of right now, there is still $ open in trade talks with the Yankees and the Cubs. It’s a question of “who blinks first” if it ever happens, but the Yanks are also considering Alonso, Walker, S. Santana, J. Naylor, N. Lowe, probably others.

Heyman revealed that the amount of money prevents the trade from moving forward, but it can still be done.
Bellinger joined the league in 2017 with the Dodgers, where he played for six seasons before joining the Cubs for the past two seasons.
In 2024, Bellinger played 130 games for the Cubs in which he batted .266, had 18 home runs, 78 RBI and had a .751 OPS.
Bellinger is a former 2017 Rookie of the Year winner and 2019 MVP with the Dodgers.
Heyman also reports that the Yankees are looking at other players such as Pete Alonso, Carlos Santana, Josh Naylor, Nathaniel Law and possibly others.
