The Toronto Blue Jays missed the postseason for the first time in three seasons, finishing 74-88.
It was the first time since 2013 that the Blue Jays finished in last place in the American League East.
With the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles in the division, the Blue Jays have some high-profile competition.
While the offseason for the Blue Jays has been underwhelming so far, MLB insider Jon Heyman gave an update on their star player, Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
“Don’t count on a deal for Vlad (not likely), but if Jay doesn’t match their offer (we’re thinking $400 million), there’s a good chance he’ll be a free agent,” Heyman wrote on X.

Guerrero has been a mainstay for the Blue Jays since entering the league in 2019.
In 2024, Guerrero played 159 games and batted .323 with 30 home runs, 103 RBI and a .940 OPS.
The Blue Jays are working to extend his contract before he becomes a free agent after this upcoming season, but Heyman reports that they would have to offer more money to do so.
While the possibility of a trade for Guerrero seems unlikely, the team would lose one of the league’s best players if he walked after the season.
The Blue Jays need talent on their roster if they want to contend for a division title, as they haven’t won the AL East since 2015.
Guerrero is a name to keep an eye on even though he is not a free agent this offseason.
