Insider provides an update on Billy Wagner’s Hall of Fame chances

Major League Baseball news is focused on the offseason, with many big players changing teams through trades or free agency.

While the offseason trades still garner a lot of attention, the 2025 Baseball Hall of Fame vote is also getting some attention.

Voting can be confusing for someone unfamiliar with the process, but hopeful players probably get it completely.

One player hopes to be inducted this year, receiving just 10.5 percent of the vote in his first year on the ballot.

MLB insider John Morosi recently updated Billy Wagner’s chances of making the Hall of Fame this year.

“Current tracking puts Billy Wagner in a very good spot ahead of tonight’s announcement,” Morosi said, via MLB Now .

Hall of Fame rules state that a player needs 75 percent of the votes cast to be elected.

Wagner debuted in 1995 with the Houston Astros and played 16 seasons in his MLB career with five organizations.

Wager’s career stats include 853 appearances with 422 saves, a 2.31 ERA and 1,196 strikeouts in 903.0 innings.

He last played in the 2010 season, appeared on the Hall of Fame ballot for the first time in 2016, and faces his 10-year limitation on this portion of the ballot.

Morosi said the polls look good for Wagner this year, and he will find out if he made the cut when the announcement is made Tuesday night.

It will be interesting to see the class of players who will be voted into the Hall of Fame this year.
