The head coach of this year’s MLB free agent class, Juan Soto of the New York Yankees, will reportedly make his decision in the near future.
Rumors abound about which teams might be in talks with Soto, and MLB insider Jon Heyman recently revealed the five teams that continue to pursue the outfielder: Yankees, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays.
“And don’t think anyone is a heavy favorite. They say he’s very patient with the selection process (‘like his bats’). But his decision will be trusted in days,” Heyman wrote in X.
All 5 teams, Yanks, Mets, Red Sox, Jays, remain in the Juan Soto derby. However, his decision will be believed within days.

Some correlation can be established with Heyman’s report on the rest of the teams.
Three of the teams reside in the American League East (Yankees, Blue Jays, and Red Sox), which could lead to a big shift in the division.
Another correlation is that two of the teams are based in New York (the Yankees and the Mets), which can cause some drama among the city’s fans.
Soto showed his ability in his first year with the Yankees, when he batted .288 with 41 home runs, 109 RBI and a .989 OPS.
Along with a mediocre regular season, Soto also led the Yankees in hitting en route to the World Series as he batted .327 with four home runs, nine RBIs and a 1.101 OPS in 14 playoff games.
Soto has been the talk of the MLB offseason, and things could get even more interesting in the days leading up to his signing.
