Next year’s two biggest indoor events will take place at Utilita Arena and Alexander Stadium
Both the 2025 British Athletics Indoor and Outdoor Championships will be held in Birmingham.
Athletes, coaches and fans will travel to the city for the national showcase events on February 22-23 and August 2-3, respectively.
Birmingham has recently been the home of the Great Britain Indoor Athletics Championships and hosted the event in 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024. The only other city to host the championships in that period was Glasgow in 2020, while they were canceled in 2021. Because of Covid-19.
The UK Athletics Indoor Championships were held at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield between 2007 and 2017, with the Steel City also hosting the replacement AAA Indoor Championships on numerous occasions.
Meanwhile, the British Athletics Outdoor Championships will return to Birmingham after a five-year absence.
Manchester hosted the event in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024, but they were previously at the old Alexander Stadium before it was refurbished for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Although the extra stands at both ends of the bends will not be installed for next year’s UK Athletics Outdoor Championships, a great atmosphere is expected at the 18,000-capacity stadium.
Birmingham hosted the event in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
The Alexander Stadium has also hosted the AAA championships more than a dozen times since it moved away from Crystal Palace in the 1980s.
