Indian Premier League (IPL) Auction 2025: LIVE Updates



The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 the mega auction started today at 15:30 IST at Abady Al-Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. As the lucrative league’s 18th season approaches, all ten franchises are looking to upgrade their squads with talent available through the bidding process.

A total of 577 players, including 12 marquee players divided into two groups, will be the first to go under the hammer. This will be followed by an auction of players wearing other uniforms and not playing.

It should be noted that it was the morning of the first day of the mega auction Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a detailed schedule and instructions outlining the proceedings over the two days. BCCI has also fixed the tender increments as follows:

  • For offers between ₹2 crore and ₹5 crore: ₹20 lakh
  • For bids above ₹5 crore: ₹25 lakh

For example, if the base price is ₹ 1.25 crore, the next bid will be ₹ 1.3 crore.

The auction will proceed as follows: Marquee Lots first, followed by a lunch break. Afterwards, the Close Shots, All-rounders and Goalkeepers will go under the hammer after a 15-minute break. The Capped Bowlers will then be auctioned off, followed by another 10 minute break. The final session of Day 1 will feature the first Uncapped Players set of seven players.
